Crying is for the Weak

When I was little,
My dad used to tell me,
"Emotion gets you nowhere."
So I stopped crying.
I stopped getting angry.
I started smiling,
when I really felt like crying.
I felt like I was holding a sign to the world,
One big, yellow grin.
And now I can't just cry,
and I can't just scream,
but when I'm alone,
my bubble's popped,
the dream is gone,
and I could break,
or break anything.

I like it. It's easy to read and I think that that's really important when it comes to poetry. Too many people mistake complex lines of jumbled words for poetry.
My dad used to tell me those things too, but it only made me angrier and made me scream even louder.

The last two lines are absolutely brilliant. I love them. you don't know which way it could go.

Tears mean we are still alive. People who hide sadness and pain will fall apart one day. Locking in emotion will make you explode one day. I like the flow of the story and the strong ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Well done. A lot of us have been there where emotion was considered bad....and that is not even human is it?

Thank you. It shouldn't be. I keep a journal now, so it's easier to let my emotions flow through writing. This is something I wrote in there.
