Shines JourneyA Story by SPOTTEDPATH
"Rockie! Sonny! Shine! yelled Owner. I bounded through the tall grass with my brother and sister at my side.
We went up the steps and through the open door.Owner graved me and put me behind the cat-gate where my mother,Eclipse, was. She looked worried. She was staring through the cat-gate where Rockie and Sonny were sitting while two strangers petted them. Then one of them graved Sonny and I watched as her black pelt disappeared in a cage. The other stranger, who was petting Rockie, graved him and tried to put him in the cage, but he was putting up a fight. His ginger fur fluffed up to twice its size and he was trying to scratch the stranger. But Owner helped put him in the cage. I watched in horror as they took my brother and sister away.Eclipse was raking her claws on the cat-gate and hissing really loud. She gave up, graved me by the scruff, and carried me to my bed. "Shine, you saw what happened to your brother and sister. I will not let that happen to you,"my mother meowed."You have to do something for me. You have to leave me. You must hop the fence in the backyard and go in the forest and live there." "But I don't want to leave you,"I told her. She looked at me with sad eyes,"It will be better this way. You can come and visit me in the backyard. I don't want the Owners to take you away too.""Okay." I got up and went through the door to the backyard. I walked down the steps and on to the grass."Wait!" I turned around to see my mother running towards me."You forgot this." She dropped my favorite toy on the ground. " I love you with all my heart," my mother told me. "I love you with all my heart too,"I said."Goodbye!" I yelled as I hoped the fence."Bye!"I heard her yell. What am I going to do I thought as I walked farther and farther from the only place I have ever known. I will see my mother again, I told myself, and my brother and sister. I walked away with my favorite toy in my mouth knowing this was true. © 2010 SPOTTEDPATH |
