Hope

Hope

A Poem by NJ Schneider
"

Can't hope for today but I can hope for tomorrow.

"
I've lost the feeling
Of being lost

I've given up

I've shattered the mirror
Which reflected the shattered
me

On giving up

I've discouraged the voice
That has discouraged me

I've given up

I've flown over the people
Who thought they'd flown over me

On giving up

I've cheered myself through
When no one else cheered for me

I've given up

I've survived the worst of the storm
But It hasn't survived the worst of me

On giving up

Kind of like...3 poems in one really. "I've lost, I've shattered, I've discouraged, I've flown, I've cheered, I've survived."

More than a simple revenge, but outright brutal retribution, is what this poem speaks to me of. It eems you've been pushed down, all the way to the point of giving up. Then something snapped. No more running, no more backing down, you returned as a conqueror. Excellent poem Niki.

I really enjoyed the growing:
"I've given up
On giving up"

Which is gorgeously self-referential and paradoxical at the same time.

Bravo!

You really do weave your words so wondrous here.. I can feel the rhythm of each piece, streaming through each other. Powerful vision of hope in what seems a vast world of darkness and indifference.

this is very cool. i don't know what to say about it since i don't know what you've done other than impress me. kind of reminds me of Rage Against the Machine, could easily be one of their lyrics. good job, you're a solid writer

Very interesting... that sense of I have conquered and yet I still feel incomplete... I may have to ponder this one for a while.
