When Grapes Taste Like Peaches

When Grapes Taste Like Peaches

A Poem by NJ Schneider
"

You know the fruit bowl was seeing some serious action. Haha

"

When a boy meets a girl

When the earth kisses the sky

When life seems so easy

When nothing goes awry.

When spring flowers first bloom

When a butterfly tickles your nose

When a baby bird learns to fly

When the the wind gently flows.

When laughter paints the summer sky

When the sky begins to cry with pleasure

When the sun sparkles through the rain

When rainbows show their grand treasure.

When fall leaves decorate the streets

When every step toward home is a melody

When the air is crisp and whispering

When the sky is partly cloudy.

When winter's first snow falls

When the flakes gently kiss your face

When the ground is covered in angels

When everyday ends with a sled race.

When a child is born

When a woman becomes a mother

When a man stays to be a father

When there's enough love to smother.

When you can't help but smile

When you can't help but think after all the bad...

What a wonderful world.

So, I was eating dinner, and we had some fruit. When I ate the grapes they tasted like peaches and my first thought was "When your grapes taste like peaches you know the fruit bowl was seeing someserious action." But I liked the first part of that so much I decided to do a poem. I haven't done much writing on here lately. Let me know what you thought.

I like the steadiness of this poem. Very lively and timed well with the rhythm. I also love the imagry "When laughter paints the sky"... beautiful! I also love the stanza:

"When a child is born
When a woman becomes a mother
When a man stays to be a father
When there's enough love to smother"

I feel that not only captures the beauty of birth but it also sends a message about the importance of having your dad stick around.

Great job! I liked this one a lot!

Very smooth like a fine wine. I liked the flow and the images as they rolled on down the mind with your words.
Happy times, perfect memories, harmony in hindsight.
One alway hopes that life can be this way.

Great Piece!

It flowed as if I was in heaven, capturing each moment in time. I enjoyed the feeling of warm as it was cultivated from the title. There is no doubt that it is well written and written from the heart.

If I would change anything I would.

When laughter paints the summer sky
When the sky begins to cry with pleasure
When the sun sparkles through the rain
When rainbows show their grand treasure.

When fall leaves paint the streets
When every step toward home is a melody
When the air is crisp and whispering
When the sky is partly cloudy.

...change one of the repetive paints to carpet or coats or some other word that means the same so they don't distract the readerBut this is a wonderful poem. Nice write
