Flames of SorrowA Poem by NJ SchneiderAnother sad poem. Joy.She covers her mouth with a thick scarf, Hoping that even in this hot weather, She will go unnoticed. She wishes she could become a ghost, At least until this reminder of her past, Finally goes away and disappears. She sits in the car and prays for death, Because it would be more understanding, Than this kind of humiliation. She tries to think of a lie, That will explain her appearances', Outright strangeness. She wonders why she was born into this world, Where it is cruel to someone as young as her, And seems to like causing her this pain. She stuffs the cotton into the small bottle, So her pills don't rattle in her pocket, As she walks around her personal hell. The hatred and embarrassment surround her, Causing her stress to increase, Making the reason for her sadness grow. The pain; the suffering; the things she must hide, For if she reveals them it will call their moths, To her building flames of sorrow. © 2008 NJ SchneiderAuthor's Note
