Who Are You?

Who Are You?

A Poem by NJ Schneider
"

I was mad at some stuck up people.

"

Who are you,

To tell me what I should feel,

To tell me what to think,

To tell me what to say,

And to tell me what I shouldn't?

Who are you,

To tell me what to believe,

To tell me what to wear,

To tell me what to do,

And then to tell me what I can't?

Who are you,

To tell me who my family is,

To tell me who I should date,

To tell me who my friends are,

And to tell me who isn't worth my time?

You don't get the right,

To tell me what I am,

And then to tell me who I'm not,

Because I know who I am,

And I love who I am.

So now,

I have a question for you,

Who are YOU?

i love it. simple but powerful. questions we ask often when we are being mistreated by someone. The ending is great how you turned it on to the other.

Short and to the point and yet excellently written. This IS part of our everyday life and I agree with you beyond a doubt, never let anyone tell you who you are, simply be yourself. Well written and oh so powerful. Nicely done

Very good and honest. It is sad that this is a reality in our lives. I have a friend who thinks there are two types of people in the world. Those he calls S**t givers and those he calls S**t takers. You have pretty much exploited his opinions on these two types of people. So " Who are You?"

I'd have to agree with you completely here. I would have a better review but you said everything I would have pointed out in your note. Well done here.

LOL - this is great. I can really relate, having had some people try to do the same. They're really not worth wasting too much energy on, though if you turn it into creativeness, like you have done - it's totally worth that bit of anger.

Wow. I really like this. It's true- a lot of people expect other people to tell them who to be. The only way to be is to be real- which is true to yourself. You did a great job. Nice concept

Those who seek out to thwart individualality should be avoided. There are instances when rules do apply, but I do not think this is the gist of your work. Great concept, excellent thoughts!
