A MAD DAUGHTER'S SAD SONG

A MAD DAUGHTER'S SAD SONG

A Poem by NEHA
"

Dedicated to my maternal grandmother from my mother

"

A lost tressure
A burst bubble

A broken dream

A dried stream
A blown away breeze
that kissed and skipped
I stare at your smile
I relish your kisses
like a stupid drunk kid
only to sigh with a greif
in my heart
weighed down with pain
a pain-
that your death left behind.

To your list please add:

I laughed at your wit
Mazed at your mental calaulations
Listened to your wise words
Miss you so much now you have left us

This is the poster child for “show instead of tell” (the first rule of good writing). I love the way you go thru a list of possibilities that reflect how this might feel – treasure, bubble, dream, stream, breeze. These are all things which can float away, just like it is with the memory of a beloved person who can no longer be touched or held. Just a floating ephemeral feeling of delightful memories mixed with pain. This is a very realistic look at how death feels to someone left behind (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Mmm...Now that you edited I can go through it!
This is something we feel only after her demise (granny) I guess...her "teethless" smile and wrinkled joy...and the stories of old days which we never experienced!!
I never had the pleasure of playing in my granny's lap but I think she'd have make the best memory of childhood for me!!
It's a lovely and caring dedication Neha!😊
