Black Mountain Sonnet

Black Mountain Sonnet

A Poem by N.D. Reed

On the brink of Poseidon's hold;
The sentinels of stone stand resolute,
And shape the poeple in a war torn mold,
To render their enemies destitute.

Their names echoe through the ages,
In the ballads of the past.
They break free of any cages,
They will fight to the very last.

And should their allies fall,
And the enemy grow stonger,
They will remain ever tall,
And outlive them for ages longer.

Let it be written in every tome,
You are my one and only home.

My first attempt at a Shakespearian Sonnet, so it won't be great. Feedback is welcome. Thank you.

wow nice! ...it reminds me of the today' ....forgetting roots, and conforming to the entities 'they' teach us to abide by..while hurting us from youth...all that aside.. Truths blended with lies.. Look to the ones who were who's ideas were snuffed out.. the greeks, Egyptians, natives, ...nobody should gain all the power (after all...which kind of man was created in who's image.. we are all different types of beings.... and that's the evil part. ...Not sure if this is more of a rant than a review.. but the point is... Love it.. made me think thoughts.. and there aint nothin wrong with that.. Thank you! :)

No problem :) I'm glad you like it.
This is fascinating! The first few lines gripped my attention right off the bat. I love the sense of mystery shrouded over your poem, and it is especially lovely with the use of Poseidon and the mention of ancient ballads. Keep it up!
