Grief

Grief

A Poem by Nicholas

I told you that grief is a four letter word that describes

When the last leaf twirls and falls in autumn

When the fledgling leaves the nest

when the lock clicks behind

The first graceful fluttering flakes of snow

the gently folding and unfolding clouds

When the brook dries in the summer heat

When the last rays fade to night

The lights clicking off at closing time

The fog like dust obscuring the photo

When your girlfriend says goodbye

When your grandfather dies

And when you realize that I lied.

Grief is a five letter word that describes.
