A Poem by Nicholas
"

That used to be me

"

I saw a picture

of a young boy.

Once, I knew him.

But no more.

Where did he go,

that playful, smiling little boy?

What happened to that grinning face,

that I saw in the photo?

Where did he go?

Where did he toddle off to?

On those six year old legs?

What happened,

To the little yellow and red waffle ball

That he clutched in his six year old hands?

I saw a picture

Of a little blonde boy

A little six year old

A happy, innocent child

His brown eyes alight with delight

Where did he go?

Where did he go?

The picture is from 2000

Ten years ago

Now.

Oh, were did he go?

And when did he let all that happy, happy innocence leave him?

Where did that golden headed, grinning child go?

Once I knew him, but now…

No longer.

All that remains are memories, of a time now long gone

A time now forever out of reach

A time of blissful joy now no longer possible

All that remains are memories,

And photos,

To remind me of that six year old…

…who used to be me.
