My MoonA Poem by Nicholas
Most nights I watch the moon
Because she out shines all the stars Which pale, in comparison, at the edges of my vision The night is sleek black hair, that only accentuates her beauty and makes me focus on her face at its center, Impossible to draw away Her face always glows, And emits a kind of crystal-like warmth that fills me So even in the dark, I smile to look at her So some nights I try to cast out a rope To pull her in, so she sits by my window, to talk And to fill the hole in me, left by another But the moon sails on serenely by And pay my earthbound fascination not a second glance And continues heedless, just out of reach.
