A THOUSAND QUESTIONSA Poem by mikael owusuThoughts in mindWhat can the butcher's knife tell a dead goat? How does harsh conditions affect seeds in their seed coat? Why do we dream at all? And why are we even here? What is victory? Is it overcoming your worst fear? And spiting it in the face? Is the fear of defeat why we hide our lives Under Muslins of mediocrity? When you are gripped by fear, To where do you look? The East? The West? And when the North is nigh to be found, Does the south do? Does she speak of me? Do I cross her thoughts? And Madame with her dry womb Wonders"will Kofi end his exile abroad?" Bottomless questions With stillborn answers that Are hitched to bloody umbilical cords in a womb that resembles Our brains. No soul answers them Those who do,merely affirms to us They know it not themselves. A thousand questions do plague me Whose life matters and whose is expendable?
