Sailing Away, Hoping for a Better Day

Sailing Away, Hoping for a Better Day

A Poem by Mjr. Tom

You said I'm always on your mind

I take a look, he's all I find

Often I sit by the window, dreaming

Looking beyond the clouds, unweaving

Sails unhatch, when reality meets dreams

At this fine point my life unravels at the seams

You fill my head with all your lies

So I take them each, and cut our ties

Despite your icy, cold cries

Like taking the pills that often rattle in my hand

My head becomes dizzy, legs buckle underneath, I cannot stand

Sailing away, far away, my mind flees, goes

All is quiet, save the croak of distant crows

Do you wish to push me away? Set aside

When you do so, I slowly burn inside

You're like cancer you spread, I sit here placid like the patient

Lately I've been waiting, lately that's all I've been, patient

While the cancer grows I continue to die, no more. I'm gone.

I named my ship: No More Wrong.

Brilliant and poignant. I love this one, friend. Your words are so well strung together. Keep on writing. I love the tales spelled within one poem. Amazing.
