Beacon

Beacon

A Poem by Mjr. Tom

Looking at the photos, they look back at me with disdain,

At my attempts to end my ways, and all the pain.

Looking past the mirror, I will change, but can I?

Is this all a waste, or a petty lie?

The shadows on the wall mocks,

As fate's door knocks and rocks-

Yet, I see your gleaming face

My heart flies, starts to race-

Like the sun, it wipes away the dark, the night

After dawn, the shadows are gone from sight.

As your embrace fulfills me, a shaking fills my core.

Doubt, fear cannot shake me, nor

The Shadows of my past haunt me,

Again--Though like the day this feeling may flee,

Shadow may return, with you by my side-

I no longer fear the incoming tide,

For your bountiful love will be the beacon,

Of light in the sea of dark and demons.
