Cold and Dead

Cold and Dead

A Poem by Mjr. Tom

Hey there again,

My long lost best friend.

You had my heart in a vice,

You broke it not once, but twice.

When you left , my world became black,

Reminding me of what I lack.

My heart is now off-tune,

I think I'm going to end it soon.

Are you happy, you left your mark,

My soul was bright, now bitter dark.

Now you read this, it's done and said,

I am gone, cold and dead.

I really like this.
I find it very staccato, very choppy to read, but I feel it likely this was your intent.

The Christmas-tree-ish shape is a clever irony for the season. Was it intentional?

The opening lines were very interesting to me, very evocative. You had me at the get-go:
"Hey there again,
My long lost best friend."
