Deep Down Within

Deep Down Within

A Poem by Rhonda Marie Hayman

I reach down within myself,

I must feel the agony,
It must have a source beyond reason.
Some solidarity to it,
tis the only way
to make since of it.
Love and hate mingle,
the confusion overwhelming.
Can I find it?
Is it there?
The strength to move forward,
to pull myself from
this avenue of pain and heartache?

My heart, it's a thundering sky,
it beats...
it beats..
Will fear cloud my mind?
Shall I let it,
I know that it would.
It beats..
I feel the pulsing behind my eyes,
feelings so intense, alive.
I'm sure to perish underneath
the intensity of this heartache.
It must be released..
It must come forward, up and out.
Else below to fester and grow.

It feels like a hundred knives
stuck in my heart and my mind
says to scream...
Scream for help..
Scream for your life,
pull it from deep down within
let it ripple the air waves.
I know that I must, I must..
For I have to go on.
