When You Love Someone

When You Love Someone

A Poem by Nate

When you love someone,
the unspoken words carry more weight than those that you speak.
It’s a look or a smile that sets what you feel apart from what you do.
It’s a silent sermon and an unsung song, it’s a gift that’s truly unique.

When you love someone,
no one else in this world matters, and no one can sway you from the conviction of your commitment.
It’s a long conversation after a passionate session of love making, instead of simply drifting off to sleep.
It’s knowing that you’re loved without the confession of love.  It’s a game where the heart is for keeps.

When you love someone,
you see the world and the things in it so clearly, it’s blushing when the thought of that person overwhelms you, fills you and overflows from you in the form of giddy laughter.
It’s giving your lover the very best of your heart and the last of what you’ve saved for yourself.
It’s facing the odds and overcoming adversity, for life throws so much of it in your path.  It’s the determination to last and not live in the past, for in love, nothing else that you face should matter.

When you love someone,
you want them to know it, in all the things that you say and you do, it’s a card just because and flowers for no reason.  It’s holding hands in the rain and remaining together despite the changing seasons.
It’s never giving in to the negativity that exists all around you, for someone will always have something to say.
It’s having the heart to stay and not part when the tide rushes in and tries to sweep you away.
It’s remembering the small things that brought you together and remembering that we both make mistakes.
It’s never going to bed angry and holding back on your love, for it’s the love that will bind us together.
It’s hugs and caressing and giving your best,
oh, and it’s also kissing for goodness sakes.

When you love someone,
it’s not being afraid of the feeling of liking and falling in love, it’s a feeling that’s deeper than any words I can write.
It’s an unconditional feeling and the constant revealing to you that you’re my strength and my light.
It’s a promise to you that your heart will be cherished,
and before I ever hurt you, I would much rather perish.

When I love someone,
I open the windows and unlock the doors and give you access to all of my heart.
It’s this feeling that fills me that I cannot describe,
it’s these tears I can’t explain that are flowing,
it’s thinking of you always, every hour of each day.
It’s my kiss you just can’t wash away.
It’s being able to tell you that you’re my heart’s only song, and that someday I will sing it for you.
It’s your beautiful smile and how it brightens my day and turns my sky from gray to a beautiful blue.

Loving you is having you as my mate and always letting you know, that there is never a need to go telling the world, because I will always make certain that the love in me for you...does show.

Well, okay you wanted me to be honest.. So here it goes.
It was beautiful! Unfortunately, I have a very low attention span. It was too long :(:(:( If you're thinking that I didn't read everything, you're wrong. I read every word. Well, the first time I read it, I skipped a few lines. But then as I went through it again, I'm thinking why I even skipped a line when everything you've written was well, has a certain truth to it, and I loved the downplay of your words. I'm glad that you found the one that you've been looking for, and it shows how much you value her and appreciate her. Not all men/women are like that, so that's really great!

Anyway this stanza, it caught my attention:

"When you love someone,
the unspoken words carry more weight than those that you speak.
It's a look or a smile that sets what you feel apart from what you do.
It's a silent sermon and an unsung song, it's a gift that's truly unique."

I have been writing since I was about 10. I began writing to express the agony inside of me as I was a victim of child abuse and neglect. No one seemed to truly understand why I was the way I was an.. more..
