Love Is. . .

Love Is. . .

A Poem by Nate
"

It's slung around like mud but do any of us truly understand its meaning, its strength or its power. . .do we?

"

He asked her if she loved him,
She said, 'I hold your hand'.
He asked her if she cared for him,
She said, 'You are my man'.

Question:

Does being in love without saying I love you
Validate the love you feel?

Question:

Does expressing your love, only in deed
Discredit your love as real?

Love is, the end of one and the beginning of one;
Not in the sense that the who that you are is no longer important, but
the who that you are is now complete with whom you are with, and who
you are with them.
And although as one you no longer live, as one you exist together.
And one can never question such a bond,
becaue one is more than 2 when 2 become
one in love.

She held him in her arms as they lay together, he asleep and she
awake listening to him breathe, but asleep in the haze of her own
subconscious, pondering why it is that she cannot mouth the words, 'I
love you'.  In her heart, wondering if this inability will make him
depart.

He stirs in his sleep and as if on cue, his eyes open and he speaks
these words.  I love you my love, not because of who you are, or who
I am, but because of who we are together.
I love you for the very sake of love, and because of the love inside
of you for me.
I see it in your eyes...
For the eyes never lie, even when you lie,
wondering if I know in my heart that your love for me never lies.
You need never say the words so long as you speak them with your eyes.
For although words are validated by deeds and deeds by words, there
are no deeds you could ever perform nor words that you could ever
speak that could ever, ever... did I say ever? - Change the way I
feel for you.

And the good thing about the way I feel for you is that I only feel
this way for you!
Love is:  Understanding one's apprehensions and instead of
pushing and prodding them, you encourage and nurture them.
Love is:  Patient and long suffering, suffering through the ups,
downs, ins, outs, lefts, rights and u-turns of life.  If life is a
gift, then love is life's blessing.

Love is happy, it is also sad,
It hurts, but is never mad.
Love is kind, warm, nurturing, tender and sweet.
Love is not jealous, but it is faithful.
               Love is forgiving.
Love is the same today as it was yesterday.

               Love is Biblical!

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and
endures all things.  Love conquers ALL!

And that is the love inside of me... for you.

With that, he closed his eyes, a single tear trickled down his
cheek and he drifted off to sleep.  SLEEP- the place in his dreams
where she says 'I love you' morning, noon and night.  And in his
sleep he reaches and touches her cheek, warm and wet with tears and
he says to her,

'...I love you too...'

Love Is...

My friend this is stunning, written with such abandon and yet such poignancy. Constant change in structure and rhyme, and yet a constant, and very important, theme. I think you have touched wonderfully here on the true heart of your subject matter, and I applaud you!
Good job!

I have been writing since I was about 10. I began writing to express the agony inside of me as I was a victim of child abuse and neglect. No one seemed to truly understand why I was the way I was an.. more..
