The Eyes of the AbuserA Poem by NateHaving seen the effects of spousal abuse and how it leads to other forms of abuse. This is my dedication to all those who have felt this pain and whose abusers can't or won't see their abuse. . . through their own eyes. When is it that love is not enough?
Why is it her best suddenly isn't enough?
So you endure the slaps that have replaced all the kisses,
She wanted you to feel what you seem to have forgotten,
She lies in intensive care, a heartbeat from death,
He looks out at a world in which he'll never again live,
A marble headstone marks the spot where she lies,
