If God Had Made Me a Leaf

If God Had Made Me a Leaf

A Poem by Jhaniel

If God had made me a Leaf
Dancing in a Tree

I would have Spent my Springtime
Trembling
At my inevitable Fall.

A poem which came to me as I walked from one end of campus to the other, inspired I think by the glorious whirling green of the enormous trees arching over me. It's a little strange, and very short, but it makes sort of sense to me, and I liked it enough to remember it.

This was actually composed last year--my well of poetry is so dry these days, it hurts--and I posted it on my blog then. But why not repost it here, right?

Lol I actually liked it. The random capitals (well, not do random, so to speak) actually quite caught my attention. I liked the simplicity of it - it allows for deeper musings that the reader can look into.

Trembling can be a good thing! Like in Charlotte's Web, trembling with joy and all, lol. And I know what you mean about dry poetry! I'm hammering stuff out though; hopefully we'll both be over it soon!

Simple....but yes, morbidly suggestive and rather deep.

Brava. Quite simple, but highly suggestive and meaningful. Plus, being the slightly morbid writerly person that I am, of course I think that falling = good ending. . . .
