Dancing

Dancing

A Poem by Mysty Rayn

She dances on the edge of love

Testing the waters

They are frigid to the touch

Having been turned away into the cold before

She is afraid to jump

Hitting the rock bottom

So many times in the past

Knowing the pain it causes

The scars it leaves

The bruises that never fade

She watches her reflection

Dancing on the edge of love

Perhaps loving herself

Will just have to be good enough

For now

Loving yourself is key to anything I think. It has to start there.. but based on Adrian's review.. it just shows me that you can love and touch someone's heart in the most unexpected ways even when you are figuring out your own. I hope you find a wetsuit and jump in to be pleasantly surprised that the water is not as frigid as you though but warm and loving..

A beautiful piece..

I love the flow this writing projects, as well as the emotional ambition causing
the reader to ponder what it means to be taken to another place and time,
I love the opening imagery, and the subtle enchantment, flowing through your words.
walking the edge of love, to one side is happiness, on the other side hearts
on the shirt sleave, and how does the heart react when left to its own devices
you capture the feeling beautifully here, painting with words.

Love you are amazing.. Mysty..

She dances on the edge of love

Testing the waters

They are frigid to the touch

Having been turned away into the cold before

She is afraid to jump..
Now that to me it's poetry and I love it...so much that it is in my library....Love has one thing...A heart! Magic

This is beautifully written. Overcoming hurt, finding the strength to
love, and loving yourself is where it starts. AD

I love this. I love the trepidation you beautifully describe, the possible descent into a deep, dark world, the fear or ecstatic joy it can bring. I have always believed that one must love oneself before loving anyone else. Only then can the whole experience of love be brought to fruition (wow, that was terribly wordy, sorry).

Very nice and flowing....there is a great deal of fear...yet desire in dancing. Perhaps this is why we 'dance'...to help us make up our minds.

Knowing the pain it causes
The scars it leaves
The bruises that never fade

These three lines hit me hard. I definitely have scars and bruises that have only partially healed. The crazy part is that now I realize the only one worthy of my trust is the one that put the scars there in the first place. My husband is my protector. He may or may not fail me again, but we will weather it together forever. This is a great poem with the image of dancing on the edge of love. Amazing how you captured so much emotion in so few words.

That's so sweet and kind of sadbecause it reflects the effect of past deceptions on courage and happiness.
I really like the way you started it with the dancing and the water of love =D.

Love yourself or not...maybe that dip is the last one you'll need to ever take again. Might be worth it in the end...someone to hold onto, keep you warm and not let you sink. Blessings!

great poem. I love the metaphor. Love as an icy lake with dangerous shallow spots that make it so very daunting. That's really excellent work.
