Not Today

Not Today

A Poem by Mysty Rayn

Go ahead,

Get mad,

But put your hand down.

You won’t,

Not today,

Smack me around.

I’m tired,

Enough,

I won’t live with a frown.

Sit,

My turn,

Don’t make a sound.

Too much,

Too long,

No more rounds.

I’m standing,

I’m leaving,

I’ll never be found.

Outstanding work Mysty -- truly. No one should have to endure
this -- ever. I feel very passionately about this subject, and could
go on for hours, but I think you've said it well in a few short lines.

I love the short snappy lines. It really feels like the poet has had enough and just snapped. Very evocative.

Short and staccato, indicative of a mind made up. Good write.

I love the strength in your words.

I'm leaving,

I'll never be found.

The final decision is made the moment the individual realizes that he/she doesn't deserve this.
I'm glad you posted this. You never know how many people would be inspired to draw courage from this.

Great job.

My feelings are that sooner or later you have to stand up for yourself. No one has the right to abuse another person. A very excellent writing. Thank you for sharing. Debileah

Short, succinct and to the point. Perhaps the messages flashed through the brain in that moment of exquisite stress. Determination edged with a sense of utter finality. Over!

I love the power in these words, the resolution, the strength and finality. It speaks about a positive moment of decision. I hope that it inspires the sentiment in someone else. Good work!
