The ScarecrowA Poem by SasavetlyricsThe sheath of clouds that blanketed the shrouds of the stars that night Shadowed your eyes in zeal’s disguise, in pixels and pins of light. A scarecrow sighed feebly aside, with a grimly plastered frown, As he loved the crows, and saw through wave rows, how they fled to them and down We blacked the door which led to floor, in search of water to bathe, And as we washed our souls with wet fool’s gold, I tried to be brave. The dripping birds flew away from their herds -- dotted, feathered bells, As they shed us a gift they began to drift-- they wept and cried “Farewell” We swam apart -- through grime I saw clean But through which my wild crow, have you seen? You went, fumbling to where the tumbling breaking of mountains bursts. I stood down below, in hunger and woe, glued to trembling earth. When you called for me, through rock rain debris, I saw your unsure eyes, And I couldn’t place as you reached for my face, how I could grow to rise. You reached for a hand; I leaned to a stand, but what is seen in my palm, On the solid ground, by reality abound, frozen in the calm? The frame in my mind of shapes combined, I squint at how they fall, In constellations I saw, the clouds were the flaw, but do you believe to recall?
