The BraceletA Poem by Tori Hugheswrote this when i was aboput 15. havent seen it in a while!
The house is occupied again
With fam'ly, friends and wine. I sit and wait till it's my turn To get the present within. They call my name amongst the din And I turn to see a face, A face all cheery and bearded white And covered with red and lace. He hands me something small and gold And wrapped with the finest care. I gentley free a small black box From the paper and I stare. Upon opening I find a small trinket, A bracelet of some sorts. A shimmering circlet of bells and hearts And ships sailing to ports. I do, in fact, see everything Upon this silver ring. There are cats and dogs, flowers and frogs And many a wild thing. I put it on and smile and smile At the gift that has been given. I cannot believe that I had recived Such a beautiful sight that I'm driven, To wear this silver all throught the night And even as I sleep. But when I awake I feel it not there And I scramble to find it;to keep. I look and look and look to find It sitting on my stair. The ships are in a tizy and The frogs are everywhere. I cry from joy to see my gift Un-harmed, un-touched, prestine. I look around for my box To keep it in, all clean. I find my box, and also a card That has my boyfriends name. 'To my love' is written there And a picture with a frame. This picture is so small, but sweet That I cry from joy and love. I have someone who I know loves me And who will never give me up. I wear that bracelet even now At the age of eighty three. And though he is gone and has long moved on I know he is watching me. © 2012 Tori HughesAuthor's Note
