Tears of the Innocent

Tears of the Innocent

A Poem by Mystic Dreams
"

...Soon it will be too late...

"

Why do you cry my love,

For all that is lost?

Destruction and war taint the Earth,

Hate and violence give birth to desolation.

Why do you cry my love,

As She weeps, and slowly dies?

Her children tearing at Her greedily,

Claiming Her riches for themselves.

Why do you cry my love,

As we strip the life from the fertile soil?

Always in search of more and greater

As Her spirit slowly steals away.

And the Mother weeps

Why do you cry my love,

As intolerance struts in its jaunty hat?

Proclaiming righteousness and truth as its blade,

And those who do not follow as terrorists.

Why do you cry my love,

As the children raise their pitiful, boney hands?

Begging for release from their plight

For the freedom to do more than just exist.

And the Mother grieves

Why do you cry my love,

When She raises Her seas against us?

Trying to sweep away what we have become

Wash clean the evil from Her body.

Why do you cry my love,

When the earth opens up and devours us?

Crushing and destroying the filth we produce

Unmaking all we are.

Why do you cry my love

When She chokes on the blackness?

And, turning away from us,

Finally closes Her eyes.

And the innocent weep...grieve

As the Mother dies

Hello again Mystic Dreams,
I recently read that of all the species that have ever populated the Earth, 99.9% have already become extinct. Therefore, I'll place my money on the "Mother" who, in this modern time, is probably becoming aware of the troubles we are causing as you so beautifuly describe.

I might suggest that you change the last line to read
"And the innocent weep and grieve...
as the Mother dies."
Hey, if She does die, there's a pretty good chance we are all in a heap of trouble.

Hi, very emotional and attractive. I like it very much. Now I am asking myself the question too, "Why do you cry, my love"?

this really could bring a tear to the eyes, if the heart let it,
the passion overflows with true to light poetical fashion,
i love the meaning this is really sweepingly enchanting, a
meaning that cuts straight to the heart, and speaks with
such eloquence, the imagery is spellbound, mystified, lovely,
speaks valumes regarding insight and and enlightenment, mike

awesome poem here! Mother Earth does surely weep for all the damage we've done, and one day will rise up to defend herself with a mighty roar, perhaps wiping us out completely. wonderfully done!

Powerful symbols conveyed through this piece. The line on each stanza works brilliantly. Best poem from Mystic yet!
