Her Final Goodbye

Her Final Goodbye

A Poem by Mysteriously Me

One last tear slid down her flushed cheek
As she whispered goodbye for the final time

Her voice was stricken with prolonged agony

For she knew he had never truly loved her

It took all she had to walk to her car

An aura of pseudo self-confidence surrounding her

Every footstep taken, brought along a little more self-determination

To not glance behind her, at him

He didn’t believe she would actually leave

Because this had happened many a time before

But when the realization finally struck him

Fabricated lies started to slowly unfold

Furious, he called her with ear-splitting screams

Spouting such profanities that made her want to disappear

Silently, she listened to every heart aching word

Until she could stand it no longer

She hurriedly hung up the phone

For she knew exactly what she had to accomplish

Tonight would be his last night

To put her through the pain she had bared for so long

She loaded up that .45 millimeter gun

The one she swore she would never use

Fought with herself only moments before she decided

To see if she couldn’t put the misery behind her…

Exactly. I left it for the reader to guess. Only the writer will ever truly know. ;)

This is powerful....I had to read it a couple of time. You left the ending to the reader to guess...did she take her own life or was she going to kill her tormenter.... I tend to root for the underdog...
