Just Another Day

Just Another Day

A Poem by Myshl

I was slipping fast, in my state of gloom

My thoughts were crowded with no room.

The sun peeked in, I put my visor down,

The kids laughed, and I wore a frown.

The dog cheerfully barked as I drove on

My mood smirked, like a clever con

It was determined, to be foul and mean

To not let me enjoy my life, so many things "unseen".

A breeze came through, and altered my thinking

But it didn’t take, my mood was still sinking.

A butterfly went past, pausing in flight to catch my eye

I looked past it, ignored it, with a heavy sigh.

Down the road the traffic came to a slow crawl,

My mood paused, it had nothing to do but stall

All those things I had hurriedly past,

Gave me whiplash as they came rushing back

The butterfly, the breeze, the kids, the dog

I was instantly lifted out of my gloomy fog.

So slow down, take a deep breath, and a look around,

enjoy all that you see, along with every sound.
