You've Reached The RiverA Poem by Myrna H. RickardDeer Lodge, MTYOU’VE REACHED THE RIVER
There’s a very crooked river on its way to the sea, Carving its way through meadows and trees. A river reflecting Gods beauty all day Of sunrises, sunsets and clouds racing away.
A river ordered by Gods own love, Winding downward relentlessly from white peaks above. A habitat for beaver and ducks and geese, And harboring sand cranes, herons and grebes.
Hear the song that the meadow larks sing. See Magpie and Swallow on the wing. Great white Pelicans glide around in vees’ Descending on the river, with their feet for skis.
Yes you’ve reached the river Where geese and goslings swim. A doe with her fawn in the twilight dim. Its richness in wildlife you’ll never know Until you’ve reached the river, swift in its flow.
It swells and flows with snow and spring rain, Nature is replenishing the river again. A stream full of fish, a place to play, Floating boats and inner tubes on a summer day.
A better river there will never be, Here on earth, so far from the sea.
There is one river I would like even more, That is the one on Gods’ heavenly shore. Some day faithful hearts will have gladness forever When God is heard saying “You’ve reached the river.”
