Grandma, Will I?

Grandma, Will I?

A Poem by Myrna H. Rickard
"

Written for a true friend 10 years older then her.

"

GRANDMA, WILL I?

.

If I were your little grand-daughter "

Here’s what I would think "

And when I became quite old enough "

I would write it down in ink.

.

Grandma, someday, will I look like you?

With silvery white hair and eyes so blue?

Will I have laugh wrinkles around my eyes?

Will I be so caring, sensitive and wise?

.

With hands that are worn, but still a gentle touch,

Hands that are always helping so much?

Will I know good and bad times over the years?

And like you balance all with smiles and tears?

.

A heart as big as the ocean tide …

And happiness welling from deep inside?

Will I answer the test of time so well?

And be able my hopes of heaven to tell?

.

Yes, grandma, here’s exactly what I think

And now I have written down in ink.

I hope very much to be just like you "

With silvery white hair and eyes of blue!

.
