Seven Ways

Seven Ways

A Poem by Myrna H. Rickard
"

A little humor!

"

Seven ways

Peel, salt, and boil them

Serve them up with gravy,

Add salad and some cornbread

It’s a specialty quite savory!

+

Fry them in a skillet

With wedges crisp and brown,

Or bake them in the oven,

Serve with butter drizzling down.

+

Boil them and mash them

‘Till they’re extra light and fluffing,

Adding lots of cream and butter,

Enjoy with turkey roast and stuffing!

+

Why not have a gratin

Hot with sauce and cheese?

“I will have the scalloped ones,

Pass them if you please!

+

Cut them into nice long strips

Deep fry in oil just right_

When you cool and salt them,

They disappear from sight.

+

So what I’m trying to tell you,

(my mouth is watering so).

Is seven heavenly ways to cook,

The lowly, humble, potato!
