Games (Football)A Poem by Myrna H. RickardA housewifes dilemma during football season
GAMES (FOOTBALL)
About the time I want to see What’s airing on the set, My husband shouts, “DON’T TOUCH THAT DIAL; MY GAME’S NOT OVER YET!”
Releasing dial with trembling hand, I back up, out of range, And turn to stare at hubby, Who’s acting very strange.
First he’s up, then he’s down, Then threatening the set, With flailing fists and shouted words, The game’s not over yet!
Oh my! It’s only halftime, Long enough to get a snack. And now that hubby’s been revived, The players are coming back.
Resuming his shouting and clapping of hands And wildly cheering on Why if it hadn’t been for him They never would have won!
Now he’s tired out " fast asleep." I can turn on what I choose. But best of all, he’s happy now. For his team didn’t lose!!
