A Treasure Of Delight Unfolds

Betty's Garden

.

When we come to visit you,

It is always such a treat,

To sit just by your window,

And have a front row seat.

At the edge of your sweeping terrace

Is a tiny bubbling pond,

With lilies gently nodding

To the green grass just beyond.

.

There is a gnarled old plum tree

With primroses round her feet;

In the blossoms white and full,

The breeze is balmy - sweet.

.

The birds that fill her branches

Almost burst their throats in song

And praise God with their singing;

One can hear them all day long.

.

Such a tiny fragrant garden

And yet there is so much to see.

Glimpse the ruby throated humming bird,

And the black capped Chickadee.

.

 Note the evening Grosbeak family

Pecking at the ground

Feeding on the sunflower seeds

Black crows have scattered 'round.

.

Pidgens congregate together.

And gossip as they feed.

A woodpecker and a flicker

See the suet that they need.

.

Hanging up-side down and backwards,

While the suet cage is swinging,

Their tufted and bespeckled heads

Are rapping as they're clinging.

.

A special feature of your garden

To entice the butterfly

They just can't miss the sweet bouquet

As they attempt to flutter by.

.

Squirrels so busy, scurry and scamper

While gathering corn free on the tree.

They race and sprint, and dart, and dash.

What fun it is to be free!

.

Observe the stately evergreens

A white birch in full view.

See roses, lupins and pansy faces

Looking back at you!

.

Oh the wonders God has given

To make your garden fair.

Aren't you anxious to see the one

He's making for us up there?

.

And when our hearts are weeded,

Filled with God's love through and through.

What a joy that will be for us

To visit Him there with you.

.

For God has made it special Himself

Just for you and me

With every manner of living thing

How wonderful that will be.

.

Everything we'll ever want

Will be there for us to treasure

He intends to show us all His Love,

Heaping eternity with pleasure.

.

Myrna, of all your poetry listed this one is my very favorite. The rythm and the rhyme flow beautifully in 'Bettys Garden.' I am there with you!
