Foundations

Foundations

A Poem by Mychaos

The seed was art.
From it grew a shoot: creativity.
Then the roots pulled downwards
- painting, drawing, colours -
reaching deep, spreading out.
Growing.
Creativity stretched upwards
strengthening, reaching light,
growing leaves, feeding me
- stories, music, poetry.
Everything I am: a strange flower.
Unique.
But art is subjective.
Quality is only perceived
 not solidified or cemented.
Beauty being different in everyone's mind
makes art not the most stable foundation.
Fluid, fluctuating, fragile,
if the roots are mangled
the flower will wilt and die.
You take scissors you wish to keep it, save it.
Don't.

Even the sturdiest orchid
lives but a couple of months in sweet water.

About
So I'm new here. I have been writing for me and for those I love for a while, but I have never published anything I've written. Am very nervous and excited about this opportunity here. I would love to.. more..
