Phoenix Fire

Phoenix Fire

A Poem by Mychaos

The tranquil time vanished,
flames smoulder eating her;
nourished on her energy.
Questions,
doubts causing her pain:
weakness.

The fire consumes her being
a long sluggish process
though she tries,
she has no tears to quench it;
they won't flow:
 won't bring relief.

Her wings curdle dwindle to nothing:
her feathers burn up.
She plummets down
a deep dark pit,
she cannot see the ground:
it is endless.

Finally, she finds courage,
meets him with questions.
The fire blazes up
chokes out what's left in her;
leaving only a trace of smoky ashes.

The hatchling wakens,
swirling grey dust around her:
dancing on the wind.
She tests her slight wings,
gradually, her feathers grow,
covering her in soft gold.

She takes to the skies feeling peaceful,
radiating love for him:
balanced,
content,
for how long?
No warning till the next fire.

For now,
 the phoenix soars.
