AloneA Poem by SomeoneSomewhereSmall poem written from an unlikely perspective. Enjoy!Alone As
the first light shines, And
the rays pierce through the night, Scaring
away the shadows, They
fill the dark with light. I
find myself watching, With
the concentration drawn on my face I
find myself thinking, “Will
I ever possess such grace?” And
I feel a smile begin to spread, As
I stretch my hand out and see, How
with two fingers I can hold the sun, Or
at least that’s how it seems to me. And
as I sit there waiting, For
patience I’m quite good at, My
world comes alive; I
see a bird; a dog; a cat. And
as the sun draws high, Nigh
on the zenith of its path, A
group of children come running, A
ball in hand they hath. And
as I start to join them, Thinking
what great fun it’d be to play, My
shadow falls on top of them, And
they start to run away. And
as I watch them, Their
faces tight with fear, I
stand alone, rejected; Never
to draw near A
single tear rolls down my face, Followed
by some more, I
look up at the sky, Loathing
what I’m for. For
to them I’m not a friend; I
can never come to play. For
to them I’m not the sun; I’m
just a rainy day. © 2012 SomeoneSomewhereAuthor's Note
