Doomed To Deafness

have you ever felt that horrible, instant punch in the gut when you realize that every mean thing in the world that can be said about someone, was said about you, by someone you cared about?

I've listened for the last time,
for the last time have i cared,
for the last time will you affect me,
and never again will I dare.

dare to put out my fragile ear,
dare to hear your thoughts,
dare to ruin the rest of this blessed year,
for the last time, with you, i've fought.

i can no longer feel the vibrations of your regret,
you cannot invade my mind,
i can't hear you, but you can hear me,
so know, that now, from your clutch, i unwind.

Those words you said, they created my exit,
they released me from your wrath.
the only consequence i now swallow,
are the scars you've left on my path.

you've left me deaf, unable to hear,
unable to know what "they" want,
but you're just one of "them" now, and that's a plus,
cus in my heart, never again will you haunt.

so leave my life, and never return,
leave me to live and love,
take your presence far away,
so peacefully, i can soar above.

I really like this piece. The rhyming kept my interest and I understand the message. When someone is always speaking negatively, you don't want to have to listen to them, be affected by what they say. After a while, you figure out that there is just nothing you can do for them, nothing you can do to change their outlook on life. Sometimes, after listening to them for such a long time, you just wish you could go deaf or fly away to a much happier place where the birds sing and the flowers grow and there is no negative energy. If you have to listen to them for too long you feel likenyou are going to explode or your outlook onlifenis going to change and you will become a pessimist like them. This is a very good, inspirational poem. Good work.
