The Man With Obsidian Eyes

The Man With Obsidian Eyes

A Poem by DeathByChoice

He walked, shoulders slumped, dragging his feet

Across the gravel.

His black coat blew behind him, swishing

Through the chilled night air.

Insignificant sounds echoed through

The empty streets; dogs barking, night owls hooting.

Cars drove by

Silently in the distance.

Bodies lay, cozy in their homes and bed

As He walked alone.

Fog coated the refuse as it

Sat, dead on the street

Beneath his wandering feet.

Stars, unveiled for the moment, twinkled

Brightly, shining in his empty,

Obsidian eyes.

Wow! Such beautiful imagery and vivid detail in the setting. I felt as though I could see this man walking, and feel the chilly night around me. Amazing work!
