Ghostly Opera

Ghostly Opera

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy
"

circa 2005~ my response to Chopin

"
Darkly, rich, humming strings of the cello
Unsettle centuries' dust in its prime
Mournful violin partners the bellow
Of emotions pouring forth from its time

Softly the duet succeeds in bringing
Tears from souls trapped, an era forgotten
Then soft laughter in spite of such ringing
Of hymns echoed in pasts woe-begotten

Slowly, after days, lifetimes perhaps of
Nocturne-epitaphs for persons unknown
Trio diminishing into a glove
Of saddened entities, ending alone

I hope that, in reading my old stuff, I can regain the ability to use that style. I miss it.

Very haunting.
You're writing seems like it's from another century.
I like the edge that seems to creep in.
Amazing work!

This is an emotive poem friend. Claustrophobically haunting and quite moving! Poppy xx

On the reaction end: There is a magnetism about your work. A cadence akin electricity runs through it. It made me listen, it made me want to read. This is something that most poetry on wc does not have.

I liked the consistent flow of your words, and your use of a rhyme scheme. I felt that your use of in the 8th line fit the context but hindered the flow of the piece. Other then that this piece is a wonderful embodiment of the work of a great artist. I very much enjoyed reading your work.

About
I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
