February Tails

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy

Little rabbit footprints
Trailing through the snow
Little rabbits wander
And I wonder where they go

Tiny feet hobble
Through the dove-down snow
Little rabbits hear
All it is they know

So I was walking to my great grandmother's house from my mom's and there were so many rabbit tracks that I began singing this little song. X3 It reads ok as a poem, but it's far better in song~

Any woman in nature who see tracks and then writes poetry about the animal instead of shooting and skinning it is a great woman.
Yes, musical...reminds me I need a lullaby written for new grandson.

Your song does read well as a poem. I can only imagine how great it sounds as a little song. :-)

This as so lovely, Aimee! I am moved by your ability to take as simple an observation as tracks in the snow, and put yourself into the mind of this helpless creature. Kind of reminds me of my "Snowbound Morning"--look at it and see if you agree. Mark

I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
