Impatience in the Face of Failure

Impatience in the Face of Failure

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy
"

lamenting over my giving up on high school and getting a GED, how sometimes we can't freak out, only be patient and believe in ourselves

"

I chose to dream.

And in my choice of dreaming,

I lived -

two seconds

of heated

Life's passions.

I chose the moment.

And in shun of foresight,

I flew -

away and above

the mundane

World.

And Dreaming,

with his

fluff-cuffed wrists

Hurled the Bomb of Reality

And decimated Moment.

I stand hindered

And bound to

Decisions.

No feet to walk.

No hands to grasp,

But a heart,

still,

To dream.

Yeah like the description said. Long story short: my issues got in the way, freaked me out, I couldn't deal with school or the threat of another year there so I dropped out; twice. I did get my GED. But upon going to get an application for the ONLY job opening in my town, I'm informed that I need a diploma. The guy talked to me like I was below him, lower class...stupid. Why would you need a diploma to work cash register anyway? Anyway, I'm kicking myself in the butt right now.

This poem is so raw and honest, and, beautifully formatted.

You know, things happen and they happen for a reason .. the saying 'as one door closes, another opens' is so true. You have a real gift - writing, and, writing technically well and emotionally beautifully. If you can do that, you can do anything!

' No feet to walk. No hands to grasp, But a heart, still, To dream. ' As long as you have dreams you'll survive. Believe me, I know.

This is a sincere and thought-provoking write.

The only thing that can keep you down, Aimee, after life has put you down, is to keep beating yourself in the head with a regret stick. Mistakes were made. Get over it. We've all made bad decisdions in the past. It's practically a human requirement. Take them as learning experiences, not stumbling blocks.

I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
