Darling Little Bluebird

a poem I wrote for my daughter - adoption poem <3

Darling little bluebird,

I will not clip your wings.

They may say it's right to do -

Among other things.

 

I refuse to hinder

Your unrestricted flight.

I want for you all happiness -

Hurt me as it might.

 

Darling little bluebird,

The world must hear you sing.

For all of my love for you;

I cannot clip your wing.

Author's Note

I wrote this for my daughter Annabel. She was adopted and all, and I'm so happy for her and for the family <3 I felt bad cos I couldn't write anything for her, cos I always felt it did her no justice. So I just let go and this happened. I'm going to mail it to her parents so they can keep it for her so she can read it when she's older. Yay~

This is really wonderful Aimee. I stick by my assertion that you'd have made a great mother, but what's done is done. She will be thrilled in eight or ten years when she reads this, and never has to bear the self-doubt so many adopted shildren feel--She'll know her mamma cared for her! Mark
