Floating Along with You

Floating Along with You

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy
"

an attempt to fully convey these strong emotions

"

You know sometimes I really doubt

What’s going on, what we’re about.

How we are no more chained down

Than a plump man might be with a crown.

At times I feel I’m in a dream,

Slowly drifting down a stream;

But when I rise from my sleep,

There you are, right next to me.

And though I doubt, I feel I know

The paddles are here, and that we row

Down this river hand in hand,

And heart in heart to a better land.

And in your smile it all does shine;

That I am yours and you are mine,

That there is no need for doubt

When broken hearts, we are without.

I'm really not sure if this is that good or not. I just feel like I've lost my natural rhythm with experimenting with free verse so I'm trying to re-gain it. And what better way to let it simply flow than writing about the strongest emotion I feel? love.

Be sure...especially when letting it flow do freely, like this. This a wonderful write!
To me this is the true form of poetry!
When it flows free like this, it is the truest raw emotional expression you can have. So...be sure and confident that it is good. Should negative words be said...know that another is not qualified to place any judgment on what you feel...they can only give an opinion to how they perceive your work of art.

I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
