Grooming Gorillas

Grooming Gorillas

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy
"

unfinished, just something I thought of at the salon today~

"

We are vain primates.

Little primped up apes.

Look at us, with tools in fur

We pay them with our emerald geometrics,

And their bellies are full.

We beat our chests and raise our flags

For the ultimate alpha-male.

Forever in search of our golden desires.

Author's Note

Aimee Mahathy
I just happened to notice the striking similarities there are between us, the civilized primate, with those, the so-called un-civilized primate. I was getting my hair cut. lol
I will edit this, and hopefully lengthen it.
I just wanted to jot this down so I wouldn't forget it or lose it.

Totally understand the being forgotten part of your Author's Note...
This poem is one of those that demands one to deep into thought...not to get the poem or what may have been meant...but to truly appreciate the ramifications that it captures about human nature...primitive nature as well...is not one the other?
Excellent write!

About
I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
