Enough For You

I started dating a graduating senior in college and todays our last day together before he leaves.

It's the last day on earth for us
It's never going to be the same
our relationship was fleeting
it didn't have a name

Never did you tell me that it would last forever
we even set the date
Now it's the last day on earth for us
and I have to accept our fate

You promised me nothing and yet gave so much
when everyone else was leaving
you were my only crutch

it seems that I've been hurt again
the cycle always repeats
I know exactly why your leaving
I've already accepted that defeat

Still we could have more time
If you'd just give it a shot
we could be happy for 3 months
it's only a little but it means a lot

It would mean a summer of happiness
a time to be smiling
it would be like we didn't have a care in the world
like it wasn't already dying

But even though you're going
and I don't have much of a say
I'd give up 3 more years of college
If you decided to stay

I'd do it because I can't alone
not like this past year
now that I know you
I don't want this feeling to disappear

I've already said my part and
you've clearly made up your mind too
But the worst part of all of this
I never got to say I love you.
