Must He Travel

Must He Travel

A Poem by James Tincher

Darkness follows my

friend everywhere he

travels.  Peace has

no home found within

his being.  Night

after night torment

and sorrow are his

cream and wafers.

Morning sun has risen

like a smoldering fire

through a thin gray

blanket of sky.  Must

he travel forth today?

Must he make this

worthless journey again?

A sea vessel has yet to

port.  Carrying with it

all the falseness of

fantasy and desire.  Fully

loaded with nothing more

than cargo of hopes and

dreams.

Hear the bell toll and

arise from his slumber.

Gather yourself and all

that you need for this

new day and you shall

make it worthy for

tomorrow begins with

another dawn.
