What I Am Not

What I Am Not

A Poem by James Tincher
"

This is about trying to hard to get the one you love or loved to notice you before you just give up.

"

All I ever wanted

was to be your

hero. Not Superman

or a Knight in shining

armor, just me being

me.

To be wrapped in

your arms like a

soldier returning from

war.  To be kissed as

if my last breath was

to escape me.

The tears that fall

from your eyes I

hoped were for me.

Practical and imperfect

but with all I had I

would have fought for

your honor and died

for your love.

A hero would I have

been, yet only a man

am I, saving the day

is unimaginable yet

I live to love again.
