Turn BackA Poem by James TincherLove poemI’m standing with nothing else to live for, everything I’ve ever had is now measured by a number in distance rather than heart beats. This I feel as I watch you walk away. The discovery of you, this journey, this adventure in love has kept my place here full of reason. To be encompassed with everything about who you are has always been the essence of my soul. Now just memories, remembrance of what was real and fantasy. Tears shower me, but can not clean my pain. No mother’s kiss can cover what has been hurt.
Don’t be a ghost to this, to me. It’s as if Death himself has taken you from me, only to let you go like a dove to the wind, torment is his intention. What evil have I done for this? He points his prehistoric boney finger to me, turns his cape covered head to you and then back to me, with a skeletons smile, with his demonic crackled voice I can hear him say “you were never there”. Not this way… Do not let it be this way. I have put this space between us. Let me fill it again, once more let me fill it again with love that will last beyond the age of death. Turn back and look at me one more time. Let me see if there is still love within you for me. Don’t leave me standing with my heart in my grasp ready to through it in the ocean for it to sink beyond the depths of unwanted and forgotten love. © 2013 James Tincher |
