Pay Attention

Are you watching what happens when your friends stop smiling?

I see them everyday,

The people called my friends.

They don't care what I'm thinking,

Or what I'm going to do today.

 

When they ask me how I am,

I always tell them fine.

I really wish they'd listen,

To this silent message of mine.

 

I stand upon the stool,

A rope about my throat.

No one knows what's going on,

And I refuse to leave a note.

 

Listen to my story.

Memorize and recite.

The next time that this happens,

You might understand their plight.
