The Underground

The Underground

A Poem by Michael W.
"

A poem I wrote about my time in all the basements - symbolic of all the negative emotions that we experience as humans such as depression, anxiety, etc. - there is always hope.

"

"My domain has been the underground,

where most my life's been spent.

In the basement bedrooms doing hobbies that I've found,

while surrounded by cement.

There are people that have come and gone

and to other cellars I have went.

We've shared stories and created song,

though those stairs were our descent.

And in these vaults that've been my home

there is something fundament.

This is where hope and dreams both grow!

Not where they dissent.

Though sometimes I wonder what the loft is like,

peering through the vent.

With all those sleeping down below,

and hopefully content.

One day we all shall know."

From the Cement there is only one way and that is up, the grass is greener where you are closer yet and safe from the fall, attics are nothing but cluttered, webbed things.

Good advice! I switched "attic" to loft. I like it better for the symbolism for what it represents. .. read more
