I'D LIKE TO THINK THAT

I’d like to think that…

I’d like to think that we’re a young race.

That all the harm we cause each other.

Is just inexperience.

That we have yet to mature.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think that money is unimportant.

That all the riches here are worthless,

And the true goal is happiness.

True vivid happiness.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think that leaders are all chosen.

That all their authority is for a purpose.

And they should cherish it,

Savor it even.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think that friends are friends.

That I’d lay my Life into friends hands…

And I’d expect back a handsome dividend.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think Life was a Circle (/Cycle).

That the bad get what’s coming to them…

And Injustice begets injustice naturally.

Instead of Revenge.

 

I’d like to think

I’d like to think that I’m useful.

That without my existence the world would be amiss.

And Earth wouldn’t rotate the same…

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think we’ve made a difference.

That our time, here, though brief, was well spent.

And we’d get a private award in the Afterlife.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think that the color of my skin.

Wouldn’t determine your perspective of me.

That my personality would do that just fine.

And you’d see me in unbiased depth.

 

I’d like to think…

I’d like to think that insulting is counterproductive.

That gentle correction and TRUE diplomacy would suffice.

And Politics was raw and Politics was Truth.

 

I’d like to think that…

I’d like to think that Death was fair.

That moving on happened in due time,

And none was taken before their set hour.

 

I’d like to think that pain was optional….

 

I’d like to think…

”Hey you! You think TOO MUCH!”

A lot of thinking and hope in your poem. I sit and ponder why the people of this world allow war, violence and hate to control our world? I wish for a world where countries who can. Sent food and medicine to the countries in need. Where children are the wealth of the country. Not the rich men controlling everything. I like this poem. I wish the leaders of our world would think like you. Would be a better place for all. Thank you for a excellent poem.
